 i really have no intention of changing someone's views, and pretty much thought that we were having a casual discussion.  no animosity here.  
 
 i wouldn't ever judge someone based on their bodily choices just because i have a difference of opinion.  some of you have posted in this thread and told me to stop judging people when i haven't posted a single judgment on any one of you, and never would.  
 i have tons of friends who use drugs and i don't think of them as bad people or anything because they do.  it is a difference of opinion and i am fine with what they do as long as they don't pressure me and understand and respect that we have a difference of opinion.  i have spent the last two months living in an apartment with two potheads.  i don't tell them how to live their lives or judge their choices, and still love them very much.  
 
 
 and on a separate note, for those of you who claim that i "take everything that everyone older than me has told me about drugs at face value," thanks, but no thanks...i took a year of college psychology and a year of college anatomy in high school and aced both classes and exams year round.  i used the same textbooks they use at UMD.  sorry i'm 18 and i'm going to art school, but that doesn't mean i don't know my shit.  
 i have heard the spinal cord thing debated, and was told and read that there isn't really a 100% fullproof answer on the matter yet.  yes lsd is excreted within a day.  but judging by the fact that serotonin is regulated throughout both the brain and spinal cord, and that LSD targets this neurotransmitter if i recall correctly, i see it as being a viable possibility.  if one has a flashback after having taken LSD at some point, there is obviously something somewhere in the neural track that is causing that to happen.  the drug thus either permanently fucked something up along the way, or is still hanging around somewhere.  we still don't know what exactly causes flashbacks, so i don't think it is something that should ever be ruled out.  
 
 but just a thought, i mean i obviously can't prove any of this shit scientifically...

personally i think flashbacks are wishful thinking.  I my youth did tons of acid and all that other good stuff and know folks who have tripped hundreds of times.  I've never heard a fist hand account of a flashback...

you're 18, taking college classes in high school, attending an art school, and seem to be intelligent, powerful, independent, and thought inducing??  nice.  i bet you'll make someone lucky very happy, if you haven't already.  but i'm sure you know that older people never listen to the younger ones.

If you don't know the difference between mocking someone and calling them names because they simply express that there's nothing that could possibly be as joyful as a love shared between father and daughter vs. mocking someone based on the comparatively superficial topic of taste in arts they choose to patronize, well sir, I can't help you out on that one.
 
 I generally agree with your philosophy expressed in your second paragraph, but let me ask you...how does one know with 100% certainty that their actions are not harmful to themselves or others? One doesn't. Nothing's 100% certain, except birth, death, and the fact that the White Stripes suck.

Personally, I've done hallucinogens well over 1000 times, managed to graduate from college with several degrees, maintain an IQ of over 140 and run my own successful business. Never had a flashback. However, they are not for the weak minded or to be taken while in an unstable or depressed state of mind. When used responsibly, hallucinogens do far less damage to ones body than an extended period of alcohol consumption. Like Snailhook mentioned, they certainly can give you a completley different perspective, a breakthrough mentally, so to speak. They also can  certainly compliment some musical experiences as well. But to reiterate, not for the weak minded. If you don't have much upstairs to start with, stick to the alcohol if you must partake in a mind altering substance, hallucinogens are probably not a wise decision. I'd also recommend weed over alcohol, other than the ridiculous legalities that is. Just sayin.
