It would have been about 26 years ago

I do remember trying to hip Mould to the Mountain Goats and Bob saying My Bloody Valentines Loveless was 20 years ahead of its time...then when Sugar’s FUEL came out I noticed Favorite Thing was a blatant ripoff of a MBV song or maybe it was already out

It was cool chatting with Mould for quite a bit before a few others noticed him

I do not remember him hipping me to GBV but probably true

Stone the Crow what have you heard from GBV so far?

Everyone will tell you start with Bee Thousand/Alien Lanes/Under the Bushes

Then you work back but only as far as Propeller and Vampire on Titus plus the Fast Japanese Cycle ep

Then the Robert Pollard first solo LP Not in my air force

Then the GBV fan club cd/LP Tonics and Twisted Chasers

Then the Bob Pollard/Doug Gillard LP Speak kindly of your fire department which even Bob now says should have been a GBV LP

If you are liking it all hard then you are ready for the first Suitcase

That’s how I would start...

Not hardly daunting at all, when you lay it out like that.

Maybe throw in a live semi official bootleg to get a feel for the live experience ..man where they sloppy at first but that was part of charm

Live boot I would get is Crying your knife away

If you find yourself liking the Tobin sprout sung songs and they were part of what reeled me in you would get Sprouts first matador LP...carnival boy

Think of pollard as Lennon and McCartney and Sprout as George Harrison

This is until Bob splits up band in 1997 and comes back with mag earwig which I avoid

Only playlists so far. The album and bootleg recs above are very helpful. Sloppy live shows are near and dear to my Mats-loving heart.

Yale School of Architecture?

I'm listening to my wife's boss chatter away on a teleconference, as he seems to do every day. I saw a study that said women utter 20,000 words per day and men 7000. This guys uses his entire 7000 in one daily phone call.

This grew on me. a departure sound wise that took me a few listens to get into. I think she is so criminally underrated.
