You can't make this shit up.  Cock Van Der Palm and Han Wellerdieck.  A pairing for the ages.

I so freakin need this cock!

Nice...does it have extra tracks?

I read this and I 100% agree
"some fans consider many of the songs on [this album] to be superior to their studio equivalent"

I so freakin need this cock!
if I had a dollar for everytime Hutch said this...

Zero extra…side D is a stupid etching

I had to buy it for sentimental reasons but kind of a waste of $45…if you have the cd….not sure it will sound any better on LP…probably a flat transfer from the cd

It sounds good and the records are flat but the alternate cover is a buzzkill…I wonder why?

I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s released on black vinyl but I couldn’t be sure so I broke down…$45 was actually reasonable as it was going for $80 with shipping from Europe…

The Northern Pikes - Big Blue Sky

one of those Canadian bands first heard via border radio... was surprised to find out they were still active all these decades later...

a couple weeks a bounty of great new albums out come...

One of them is Ural Thomas and the Pain - Dancing Dimensions

Ural is another soul singer who was active in the 60s and is having a resurgence of late with a hot band out of Portland.  Probably already on Space's radar, this is great album which sounds great on headphones.  Best of the year for sure...

Couple previous records out there as well...

next on the new release heavy rotation is

The Suffers - It Starts with Love

Definitely their best album to date as the second was good but always left me a little cold and the first was a solid introduction.  This one easily moves from being joyous to serious and it's letting some of it's other musical influences come out...

since i need to trot out at least one "obscure" release, i present

The Handcuffs - Burn The Rails

https://thehandcuffs.bandcamp.com/

Featuring Brad Elvis of Elvis Brother fame and The Romantics of late on drums and singer\saxophonist Chloe F. Orwell, this one has lots of rock swagger and attitude with hits of glam, etc... also features on a couple tracks  guest keyboardist Morgan Fisher (Mott The Hoople) demonstrates his synthesizer and piano prowess

and yes in amongst all those guitars, drums and keyboards, there is some rockin' sax

definitely a keeper for moi

Two tracks into this and I'm was spending my money on it

Back To Business
by Chris Bangs & Mick Talbot

https://acidjazz.bandcamp.com/album/back-to-business

Not that he ever really went a way, but nice return by Mick Talbot (Style Council, etc) some on fire keyboard playing on this...

i like this quote about it

Indeed if the LP was presented as some lost 60s Blue Note/Chess album from someone like, say, Brother Jack McDuff, Jimmy Smith or Ramsey Lewis you wouldn’t  blink an eye lid!

nods also to Earl Van Dyke

While maybe a bit early in the day for it, I was rocking out to the new Nova Twins album "Supernova".  These young ladies rock HARD, the lazy RIYL would be RATM, but i'm sure there are better comparisons, but sure bring the heavy and rage to this release

and I miss the CMJ New Music Reviews Recommended If You Like (RIYL) inclusions in their reviews, almost always spot on and I wish you would see this more often... but i guess algorithms do that now a day instead  ::)  and of course so few music reviewers now...

I thought all 80s Miles kind of sucked but when I saw the musicians on this I had to get it…..really kind of skruonk jam jazz but pretty good… Miles is very energetic here

My one RSD purchase. Everything is cheaper online than at the record stores

Couldn't resist either, what with liner notes by the Iron Man himself....

70s Jamaican dub represents one of the pinnacles of recorded music….that it was accomplished by a few hundred mostly impoverished and stoned rastas in the middle of incredible levels of violence blows my mind…

King Tubby is as good as it gets in the genre and this and his work with Yabby You may be my favorites. He was gunned down in the late 80s widely unknown. Glen Brown moved to upstate New York and got into home building.
