the case is hilariously weak and a very low-quality attorney -- not to mention an attorney of the caliber a rock star can afford -- can no doubt successfully lead to an acquittal in the wild scenario that a jury actually hears it.

The only reason I remembered the case against Gallagher is because my family's firm turned it down, for obvious reasons.  She no doubt found someone to take the case and she ended having to pay for both attorneys.
Sanctions are a bitch. People shouldn’t run into civil action — if you don’t have lawyers fighting over who gets to take your case, you probably shouldn’t file and risk bankrupting yourself.

Allison Mack pleads guilty in NXVIM case; faces up to 40 years in prison

But she only gets 3 years.
jez, didn't realized that women in the cult actually got a AM brand (along with the dude's initials)
My father-in-law has been a judge in Saratoga Springs, NY for 2-ish decades and knows the judges one county over where alot of this was happening and, wow, he has some stories about these folks. They used the (civil) court system up there to shut up dissidents and people who would leave. This group was CRAAAAAAZY and targeted rich kids at a local private school extensively.

The rival HBO and Showtime docs give you a good overview but you get like 10 rich people's stories. There are hundreds of people in upstate NY (and elsewhere, no doubt) who just had their lives ruined by these weird fucks. It really hits home when someone is like "oh, yeah, my niece's best friend was held out of the country for two years . . . they tried to recruit her (the niece) too but her mom pulled her out of school" as though its just fucking commonplace.

T.I. arrested in Amsterdam for being on his phone while cycling

“He (the dutch cop) was extremely upset. I, myself, was out having a great time. I’m still not upset. They arrested me and didn’t even put me in handcuffs. They just opened the door and invited me to the backseat. I obliged.”

just like the USA
