Okay, to keep from clogging up the Just Announced thread....post away regarding Them Crooked Vultures here.
Now, over in JA, a presale through the band's website was mentioned. Um, shouldn't we all sign up for that?!?! Info hugely appreciated. ;)
- Bags (seemingly back in action after a long hiatus)
-
Gonna give the band's pre-sale a shot.
I take it this is a real-quick sell-out?
-
I didn't see any presale info anywhere. Not sure how to sign up for it.
-
Looks like the other shows are $47.50. I haven't looked up capacities, but I guess the 9:30 will be about the same.
-
This will go fast. But I'm thinking most of us will get in.
-
I didn't see any presale info anywhere. Not sure how to sign up for it.
I received the password from their e-mail (The Crooked Times / Vol. 3). All pe-sales look like they're through their Web site tomorrow at 10 a.m.
Public on-sale is Saturday at 10 a.m., and the e-mail notes that "A very limited number of tickets will be sold sans service charges at the 930 club box office (815 V ST. N.W. WASHINGTON DC)"
-
The link for the 9:30 onsale currently takes you to the main page of the TCV site.
-
The link for the 9:30 onsale currently takes you to the main page of the TCV site.
I'm sure that'll change once the club sets up a destination for the link as every other link in the bands email goes directly to the ticket seller of that particular show.
-
Man, their official website is awful. The type is dark gray on a black background.
Do you have to do anything besides enter your email in "Consort" to find out about the official presale? Anyhow, if anyone gets info, feel free to PM me. I think this is going to be a cluster****. The UK presale sounded like a nightmare.
-
Hmm, do you think the note about a small amount available at the box office means they will hold tickets back for that? Box office isn't open at 10:00 a.m. Saturday....
-
Unless the club sets aside an allotment to sell when the box office opens on saturday evening, I don't see there being tickets available there by then.
Edit: beaten to the punch.
-
The TCV website doesn't mention a 930 presale. Unless one is offered in today's e-mail blast, there probably won't be one.

The TCV website doesn't mention the pre-sales, the pre-sale info is in the bands email "newsletter".
-
i'm just glad that Dave Grohl doesn't sing in this group.. and doing what he does best (on drums).

No.
-
Thanks Shadrach -- didn't think so.
-
I signed up for the newsletter days ago - 3 or 4 times using 2 different email accounts - and have yet to receive an email or newsletter from them. I wasn't worried because the chatter on their boards seemed to indicate there wouldn't be a presale for the DC show.
Based on this thread I'm now officially worried.

Them Crooked Vultures 10/14 @ the club
http://forum.themcrookedvultures.com/showthread.php?t=781
i know the lineup is epic . . . but is the music?
I haven't seen any of the live clips...I generally don't waste my time with camera phone footage of bands. But the brief canned clips of their songs that the band has released sound actually really freaking great. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iBckNeRMXDY&eurl=http%3A%2F%2Fpitchfork%2Ecom%2Fnews%2F36375%2Dthem%2Dcrooked%2Dvultures%2Dgrohl%2Dhomme%2Djones%2Dannounce%2Dfall%2Dtour%2F&feature=player_embedded/)

I became a fan on Facebook, and I signed up for their email. If anyone wants/needs the password for thursday's presale just pm me.
Josh Homme with ANYTHING is amazing, Im up the man's ass, but come on. This isn't Velvet Revolver we're talking about.
-
studio stuff . . . sounds awesome. live stuff . . . sounds ehh. we'll see.
-
Also in the email it says that there will be a limited amount of tickets sold at the 930 box office without service charges, and they just posted this video on facebook:

-
9:30 gave a different password in their email blast. Anyone know what's up with that?
-
Every venue except the 930 is Live Nation, I believe. Might that explain it?
Or maybe it is a 930 Club pre-sale, in addition to the band pre-sale.
-

it is. 930 club presale and a band website presale. both start at same time.
edit - there are two presales. but only one for 930. the other presales (from their website) are for all the other venues at once.
-
got my tickets, easy-peasy.
-
Boy, that was easy!!
-
That was rather easy.
Should be a great show!
-
First tried the TCV email password which didn't work and then the 9:30 Club password but...
"Tickets are not available together in the quantity you requested in this section at this time. Please try a different section, or fewer tickets."
I guess I'll try again on Sat?
-
Whew!
-
Got my tickets as well.
-
9:30 presale was out, but Facebook link worked.
-
yeah, that was kinda easy. i feel all "smashing pumpkins secret show" giddy now.
-
930 pre-sale seems to be done. I haven't checked the band's link.
How does the 930 compare to the other venues on this tour in terms of size?
-
... but the facebook link pointed back to the same link as the 930 presale...
?
anyhoo, presale sold out in under 2 minutes, possibly one. at 10:02 i had my tickets all locked up, so for the fun of it i went back to see if they were all gone. they were.
-
we're in. 2 tix for $113 total. Looking forward to some serious hero worship on 10/14 !!!
-
That was easy.. then again I was on it at 10 am exactly.
Glad they limited it to 2 tickets per person.
I should think that means only 500 pairs or so... they'll probably hold some back..
Don't know all the venues but the 930 is half the size or less of the Electric Factory..
-
got mine, im still not sold on this band yet
-
9:30 presale was out, but Facebook link worked.
hemisphire - you saved my ass w/ the Facebook link! THANKS!!
-
great, just great I missed out on it :o how much were tickets?
-
BAGS did you get tickets? If not EMAIL ME NOW!
-
Don't know all the venues but the 930 is half the size or less of the Electric Factory..
Agreed. EF is a bigger sized venue for sure. Not sure how many more folks they squeeze in. Hopefully enough to take care of all the New Yorkers that will be heading down.
-
great, just great I missed out on it :o how much were tickets?
total price per tix was $56.50 per ticket
not cheap...
-
is it all sold out now??
-
I looked up the rest of the US venues, and the Club is easily the smallest. This'll be great.
Tickets were $47.50 before charges. Cue the "they dont even have an album out yet!" argument, but I think it's a reasonable price. They've been playing 80-ish minute shows of original music, and seeing any of them in a club setting, or Dave drumming at all, is worth it to me.
-
Let's hope your post-show feeling isn't the same as the post-SP secret show :)
yeah, that was kinda easy. i feel all "smashing pumpkins secret show" giddy now.
-
woo hoo, way to go Hemishpere -- tried the FB link and it still works! Kinda weird, thought they both went to the same place, but I didn't get through on 930 link.
-
anyone still have the facebook link?
-
9:30 presale was out, but Facebook link worked.
hemisphire - you saved my ass w/ the Facebook link! THANKS!!
Same here! I got shut out on the 9:30 Club link for 6 minutes, saw this post, and somehow got tickets! Thanks a ton!
-

This show has one other thing going for it: its the last show of their US tour. They should be firing on all cylinders.
-
Somebody send Wml7 the facebook link...I don't have it.. dont' even know what its about?
-
Bags check your PM. Let me know.

Oh, definitely. I think it'll be worth $58.
Now to occupy myself with these damn 30-50 second teaser clips until the 14th...

I know, who'd a thunk after trying for 8 minutes on the 930 link, the other would still work.
FB link is done now...a friend I sent that link to got in a couple minutes after me and could only get one ticket.
THANKS Ratbastard for the insurance!!!
-
ok found the facebook link but taking forever to load might not get a ticket great, just great
-
How does the 930 compare to the other venues on this tour in terms of size?
looks like the 930 is smallest venue of this tour. philly, toronto, detroit and columbus are all definitely bigger (in the 2000+ range). stubbs is austin is comparable to the 930, but still holds a few hundred more.
-
Huge thank you to Seth right now. Dude must have some kind of connection to Dave Grohl to make this happen.
-
its all gone thru facebook now
-
How many of the 930 forum regulars got shut out? Anyone that we know of?
-
i got shut out but I was just late getting on so my fault
-
Everyone I know that was trying to get tickets got one...looks like it's going to be one big party. Awesome!
-
pre- or post-show boardee meet-up?
-
wml pm me.
-
i also figure cause its the last show, by the time they get here the other shows will have been bootleged to hell and if it sucks i can pawn this off to some sucker.
-
Now FB is gone.. was working up to like a few minutes ago
-
i also figure cause its the last show, by the time they get here the other shows will have been bootleged to hell and if it sucks i can pawn this off to some sucker.
Eh, word from the earlier shows was that security was extremely tough on cameras and recording. So they may be bootlegged to hell, but I doubt if there will be many high quality recordings.
-
couldn't make it...fuck, guess I'll try on Sat

yeah the metro show in chicago was very harsh if they caught you they kicked you out. You couldn't even use your phone to take a pic. Also people who did get away with getting video from the show and posting the video on youtube got a warning from Josh Homme. The videos were taken down. However I guess whatever happen now he has let them be put back up.
-
Expensive... Well, they better not suck.

;D
Another reason to love Josh Homme.
-
I was trying and got shut out, however my wife scored a pair. I just hope she ends up taking me. ;D
-
X, bags and I had your back all the way dude. You would have had tickets even if she had missed. My friend Kim and I each scored a pair at the presale... Oh hell yes.
-
About bootlegs - saw the show from France was up on dime last night.
-
Let's hope your post-show feeling isn't the same as the post-SP secret show :)
yeah, that was kinda easy. i feel all "smashing pumpkins secret show" giddy now.
you know, call me strange . . . but i found the sp secret show at da club to be one hell of a performance by them. great song selections, full power rock, just enough showmanship. a hell of a lot better than those two dar shows they did after.
-
I saw this, too. But my shitty soundcard doesn't do 24 bit. :(

Oh well - Guess i'm going to have to miss seeing Hope Sandoval :(

bad choice. lol.

like yourself, i realize this isn't the cool thing to say - but i liked that show too. between the music and the company, i had a great night. saw SP a while later at the tower theater... ended up walking out before the end of the show, in order to watch the red sox earn themselves a spot at the world series. t'was a much more entertaining use of my time, IMHO.

don't you have a sound editor, like soundforge? downsample dat sh!t (yes, i know it's changing the bit depth not the sample rate... ::))
-
Believe it or not, I don't. Maybe I should download a copy.
-
Sorry to all those who I didn't respond to with the password, hope all worked out. I didn't get tickets cuz my em effing pay check hasn't gone through through. 113$ a pair? Uy.
-
Believe it or not, I don't. Maybe I should download a copy.
conversion is pretty simple: open the MP3 in SoundForge (or use the Wavewriter in Winamp to write out the WAV file and open that in SF), then poke around until you find the Bit Depth Converter - i forget which menu it's in. Change from 24 to 16, click "apply"/"ok". save the resulting file as a WAV, FLAC or MP3. be warned saving as MP3 may yield an ugly result, since it's source is MP3.
or alternately, get a soundcard that can handle 24 bits :P
-
missed out on the presales this morning, so i'll try my luck saturday morning....
-
Does it do flac? It's what the source material is in and I don't generally do live recordings in mp3.

Yup, SF does FLAC.
-
You might want to try googling "free audio bit depth converter" and see if anything fits the bill. SoundForge will def do it, but it's over-kill. It's like using ProTools to save a WAV as a MP3. Then again, nothing wrong with learning to edit audio files, so go for it if you're looking to learn.

How many of the 930 forum regulars got shut out? Anyone that we know of?
Me. Been busy this week returning from the left coast, work functions and helping Mama Tee after surgery. Please don't let me miss Grohl at the club AGAIN. Anyone? :-*
-
pre- or post-show boardee meet-up?
i agree sounds like the majority will be at this show! (but let me get a spot (ticket) first!)

i'll be sure to wear my dinosaur jr, hand it over shirt . . . or maybe without a sound; they're both so good it'll be a tough call. :D
-
I missed out on the presale and will try this sat to get a ticket is everyone on the forum going? ;D
-
Is there a better shot of getting the tickets through 930, or tickets.com?
-
930's ticket outlet is tickets.com.
the box office isn't open in the am tomorrow and Shadrach said that there will not be a small amount of tickets held for sale later at the window (see page 1 of this thread).
-
Thanks, I already got mine during the pre-sale. I'm just trying to score one more for my nephew to pop his 930 cherry.
-
You can still try tomorrow.
-
Good Luck everyone...
-
stuck in waiting room...
-
According to my friend across town the system let you buy up to 4 each this morning.
-
stuck in waiting room...
same here. why do things always go on sale when i'm away....
-
Sure did I was able to pull up four from tickets.com, and two from the 930 site. Only bought two though didn't want to be greedy. ;D
-
Looks to be coming up as sold out now.
-
bummer.
-
Sold out...per Customer service agent at tickets.com
-
Looks to be coming up as sold out now.
I'm still in the waiting room. Will they tell me its Sold Out?
-
I wonder how many new listings are on craig's list as of now.
-
It says Sold Out on the 930 page now. Also I had someone report that they go to the ticket purchase page and get the sold out message.
-
again got shut out great, just great :o
-
<queue whining about tickets.com in 3...2...>
-
waiting room just gave me the sold out message. if anyone has an extra come show time, please let me know. would appreciate it ;D
-
Remember folks that almost always a handful of CCs get declined and those tickets go back in the system throughout the day. In other words, if you want tickets badly enough, check back very frequently all through the day. We all have heard of situations where someone scores a pair of tickets to a sold out show well into the afternoon of the on sale date after it has sold out.
-
CALI CHECK PM NOW

Yeah persistence is definitely the key with that site. I've sat on the refresh button for up to 45 minutes after supposed "sell outs" and eventually scored tickets to other shows.
-
ratbastard i sent you a pm
-
WML I got that from you. The only person I am waiting to hear from is DFA. Looks like you and Cali each need one. We may be all set.
-
awesome ;D
-
thanks rat. hopefully DFA scored a pair
-
well, i'm still trying only cause it has worked for me in the past. not so hopeful this time though. if anyone has an extra, please keep me in mind. thanks!
-
oh well, my wife and i tried our best, but got shut out of the pre and regular sale. I guess i'll just keep an eye on tickets.com for awhile and see what happens. thanks for the tip.
-
I wasn't able to get one. It's fine, they're pricey anyway. I guess i'll just wait to see if one becomes available later for face outside the venue or something.
-
hey laaaaaaaaadies....

Got my tix in the mail already...wow! Now I can go make some money...just kidding.
-
Yeah we got tickets yesterday as well. A good day is in my future I see.
-
Mine came! Cha-Ching!
-
while im stoked for this, i dont really think this is the end all be all of shows. hell this supergroup doesnt sound as interesting as i would want it to be with dave in a supergroup band if it was up to me his band would consist of
ANY MEMBER OF VOID (that is alive of course)
No trend
TAD
-
I'm not fully sold, either.
-
Yeah we got tickets yesterday as well. A good day is in my future I see.
I bought a set of tickets at 930 presale and TCV's presale and one of them was cancelled, apparently there is a 2 ticket limit? Did anyone else encounter this or see where this was written anywhere? My 2 friends will be devistated, I am really quite annoyed. It was 2 seperate presales!!!!!
-
that was pretty clear...
-
i checked them out on youtube.
the sample tracks are more interesting than the actual songs...
they don't sound very good live.
-
Yeah, I have to agree, this is really unspectacular. I can't imagine any of us listening to them 2 years from now.
-

Didn't Tickets.com handle both presales? If they did, their finding out that you made two separate purchases was bound to happen. And yes, the two-ticket limit was made clear.
-
that was pretty clear...
Was it really that clear? That this limit applied to two seperate pre-sales?

"their finding out was bound to happen" - I wasn't trying to dupe anyone, I didn't know such a rule existed. I don't know about you guys but the last thing I am paying attention to when scrambling for tickets is reading the small print.
-
that was pretty clear...

it did say on both, and lets be honest here, a show that is in this much demand with the people involved will more than likely not let you get more than two. i mean it seems as though most who have a ticket minus some scaplers and maybe the few other people who just happen to hear about this band around the time the show was put on sale knew how this band has operated its shows in europe. limited tickets, no cameras etc. if there was a more than 2 ticket option i assure you half of the people on the board that claimed to have gotten tickets wouldnt have.
-
I wasn't trying to dupe anyone, I didn't know such a rule existed. I don't know about you guys but the last thing I am paying attention to when scrambling for tickets is reading the small print.
ding ding ding. ignorance is not an excuse. you chose to rush through, you clicked the "i agree to the terms of this sale" without reading them. frustrating but you can't blame anyone. sry.
-

How about an email telling me it was cancelled so I can try for the public onsale. Or an email period. I would have never known if I hadn't looked at my CC statement.
I guess its no use venting to you guys, you all must have gotten the memo already.. 2 ticket limit has always meant you can only buy two a time to me.
-
How about an email telling me it was cancelled so I can try for the public onsale. Or an email period. I would have never known if I hadn't looked at my CC statement.
ah, now that's a different complaint - poor customer service/communication. yeah, tickets.com aren't the best at that.
I guess its no use venting to you guys, you all must have gotten the memo already.. 2 ticket limit has always meant you can only buy two a time to me.
what it means to you is irrelevant, it's what it means legally that matters. when a presale says there is a X ticket limit, that's X tickets total, no matter how many orders you take to achieve the limit. this has always been the case, i've never seen a presale with an limit-per-order but no number-of-orders limit.
and venting to us is always useful - gives us cannon fodder.

sorry mekmad you got srewed by the company man. it is a simple truth that you are not a scalper or ticket broker. for if you were, you would have been allowed to get 1-10 tickets to the show and then resell them for kickbacks galore to all connected parties . . . like the countless ebay auctions offer.
and to those who are already dissing the show before seeing it, do not let that deathfromabove guy hear your prattlings . . . for he dothe think that josh only shites rainbow flavoured marshmallows.

I guess the scalpers are hip to the rule, use your buddy's credit card for the other set of tickets.. Whatever, I'm going. Just sucks I misled my friends.

yes, walkies, that's right - scalpers and brokers have a secret back door to tickets.com that gives them access to tickets that the rest of us don't. this is keeping with the 930's long-standing tradition of cooperating with scalpers. those tickets for sale on ebay and stubhub aren't just regular folks who bought tickets the same way you and i did... no, definitely not. these people have super-powers ::)

I love the conspiracy theory kooks!
-
Yeah, I have to agree, this is really unspectacular. I can't imagine any of us listening to them 2 years from now.
I don't really plan on listening to them in 2 years. I plan on them rocking like crazy next month though. That's why I'm going.
-

have you heard the album yet? if not, how can you say if we'll be listening to them in two years? i'm reserve judgment on predicting the longevity of a band based on short youtube studio clips and youtube cell-cam live footage. and yeah, i don't always have a long-term horizon for my musical appreciation :)
-
Two years? I live for today. Hell I might not even be on this planet any more in two years!

This same thing happened to a friend for the Vfest -- 2 presale tickets and 1 regular sale ticket, but the regular sale ticket was voided due to the 2 ticket limit.
-
a friend took some photos at Stubb's: http://www.soundcheckmagazine.com/featured-content/1777-reviewphotos-them-crooked-vultures-at-acl-studios-and-stubbs
Jeez. Now I'm really wanting to see them.

I just saw this band in Austin and it was amazing. If you love Josh Homme, this band is a very, very good thing. I have never been so entertained by a show by a band where I did not know any of their music going into it. This at the club is just going to destroy. Again, if you are a Homme fan, this band is absolute bliss.
-
God, I cannot wait now!!
-
How about an email telling me it was cancelled so I can try for the public onsale. Or an email period. I would have never known if I hadn't looked at my CC statement.
I guess its no use venting to you guys, you all must have gotten the memo already.. 2 ticket limit has always meant you can only buy two a time to me.
This same thing happened to a friend for the Vfest -- 2 presale tickets and 1 regular sale ticket, but the regular sale ticket was voided due to the 2 ticket limit.
I had this problem with Ticketmaster as well for Vfest, and they didn't contact me before hand to notify me that my ticket had been canceled. I mean, they even sent me a confirmation email for my order. Apparently it's in their "rules" that they don't do that. I called TM to complain about the incident, and they said "oh thats all listed in our terms and services, and the email it sent you is automatically sent whenever a ticket is purchased".
Shitty customer service, IMO. I am ok with an order being canceled, but not notifying me about it is a shady practice.
Very frustrating indeed.
*sorry to derail the thread, hope that everyone going to this show has a good time
-
Same thing happened for ACDC with the added caveat they were PAPERLESS .. they had this thing that if you joined the fanclub you could get two tickets... mrs hutch also joined and got two..... well they cancelled hers and since they were paperless we didn't find out til we checked our credit card statement the night of the show... we were ok but felt bad for two friends of a friend that we were trying to hook up...
-
TCV were pretty impressive at ACL. I'd say y'all are in for a treat
-
no opener for this show, right?

Thats more of a load of crap then the load of crap handed to me for these tickets. What a load of crap, sorry to hear it.

is anybody on the sense yet of whether this live experience / band altogether, is going to be epic . . . or rather "yeah, well seeing dave on drums again, was kinda cool . . . but they should of got ______ to sing"??

I'm perfectly fine with Josh singing. I like his voice a lot.
And I haven't really read any negative reviews of the fact that he's in the band.
-
I think this band is going to be a bit of a letdown for anyone who is NOT a fan of Queens of the Stone Age or Kyuss. If you're into Queens or just enjoy music for the sake of music, it's kind of like seeing Josh Homme go supersonic. How could he not be overshadowed by members of 2 of the all-time biggest bands in rock music? But I get the sense that the songs are mostly his, the melodies are mostly his, it's just that he has one incredibly badass and damaging rhythm section. I'm totally OK with that. This isn't the Traveling Wilburys. I'm sure Grohl will have a lot of people show up just because it's him, and JPJ will have some onlookers too. I'll be there for ALL of the band, including Alain Johannes, who is an amazing musician and producer. But I suspect I'm probably in the minority on that one.
-

Agreed. I was not expecting much, but they were pretty awesome. But I like QOTSA, so I also agree with bearman that if you do not like QOTSA, you probably won't like TCV. If you do, you're going to love them.

Maybe....but those people have issues to begin with. Particularly those that don't like Kyuss.

I and everyone I was with freaking loved it in Austin, though we are all huge QOTSA/Josh Homme fans. It sounds like Josh out playing great new QOTSA material with an incredibly sick QOTSA lineup behind him. Grohl is powerful and right on, but very understated. He does not make a show of himself, he just pounds the hell out of the drums. John Paul Jones just takes the whole thing over the top. There is also a second guitarist.
I do think people not sold on Josh Homme might be let down, but if you have drank the Homme kool-aid, bring an extra pair of shorts to the gig with you.
-

well except for the fact that he employs one guy whose entire job seems to be to move the mic for him throughout the show. he just sits there behind the drums and swings the mic in and out. I consider that pretty showy ;)
-
I just got back from Austin, saw 'em twice. I don't consider myself the biggest QOTSA fan, but I did enjoy seeing Dave play drums for them at the club in 2002, and this feels different. One of their songs feels like a slowed down and spacier "Trampled Underfoot", and I really enjoyed it. Also, when JPJ plays the keys it brings the sound to a new place. Looking forward to the 14th.
-
"mini mansions" opening for TCV. based on their 4 myspace tracks (http://www.myspace.com/minimansionsmusic) they seem to be on the 60's psychedelic tip, with a strong beatles influence. should make for an interesting/acceptable opener.
edit: apparently i'm not the only one who hears a beatles influence: http://losangeles.ohmyrockness.com/BandBio.cfm?BandID=25780

There are several TCV shows up for download on Dime in case anyone wants to get familiar with the songs before the show.
-
Good looking out. Downloading Austin.
82+ minutes is more than I thought they had in them.
-
any chance someone could share a show somewhere outside of dime? upload it to mediafire, yousendit, etc? my dime membership has lapsed and i can't get in...
-
I'm pretty sure I've seen shows on rapidshare & megaupload. Don't have the links here at work, though. Not sure what format they're in, either.
-
I'll try to get that Austin show up today.
-

Also, looks like I have an extra tix. First boardie to PM me can have it at cost, with the caveat being you can pick it up from me tonight or tomorrow in the boonies (Herndon) or wait 'til I arrive, probably no earlier than 8:30.

Any reports of TCV merch or a DC opener?

RE: opener - see previous page, third post from the bottom.

i heard their shirts are very $$ and very poor quality.

is there a pre/post meet up thingamadoodle for this show, with lots of finger pointing, drink spilling and, "that's . . . what you look like?"

I'll be a Duffys pre-show.
-
I'm pretty psyched. Going to the show with some neighbors who I've never hung out with at the club. I think they'll be gettign there for doors, which I haven't done in like forever.

I'll be the older guy, long hair, glasses, and walking with a cane. Should be near the front of the line to go in. Heading directly upstairs to the bar stools at my usual club spot.

I'm still considering wearing Dave's Motorhead shirt that he gave me. I did give it to KIm so I might have to sweet talk her to get it back for the show.
-
in case anyone is without a ticket, there are several available in the ticket exchange (http://www.930.com/forum/index.php?board=4.0)
is there a pre/post meet up thingamadoodle for this show, with lots of finger pointing, drink spilling and, "that's . . . what you look like?"
i can't guarantee a pre-show meet-up, but i might be in the backbar afterward. sounds like some folks will be at Duffy's beforehand.
-
what (i'm sure a bar) and where (i'm sure close) is duffy's

whatever you do, DON'T google "duffy's washington dc" (http://tinyurl.com/yz36rxh) - just don't. it's safer this way.

Any reports of TCV merch or a DC opener?
I hear they've had cool posters at other gigs, not sure if there will be one here or not. I'm guessing the posters will go early and I'll miss out and have to outbid people on ebay for one. Wish there was a 1 poster limit like the ticket limit for the tickets.

this recording is quite clear, but there's something really effed up about the stereo image... it's like it was recorded mid/side and hasn't been decoded or something. left side is louder than the right and mix is way off... i can't deal with it. i came across another recording that isn't as clear but sounds "normal".
edit: the left/right weirdness subsides as the show goes on. maybe the taper fixed the placement of his mic(s)...
