Whoa, Frum is offering spuds some advice on self-esteem

David Frum@davidfrum
This is really a sad reflection on the low self-esteem of the US potato crop. You're a potato, the most versatile of all tubers! Aim higher than frozen fries!

I think this excerpt really captures the essence of National Potato Day...

How to celebrate National Potato Day?

National Potato Day is praised on August 19 of consistently. For a considerable length of time, potatoes are the most loved thing of diets wherever on the planet. Potato sweethearts are found in enormous numbers, and that principally incorporates the kids. With the delicate, smooth nature, potatoes can be eaten in various structures like potato chips, pureed potatoes, gratin, hash-tans, heated potatoes, potato plate of mixed greens, hasselbacken, home fries, potato skins, potato cake, potato wedges, kroppkaka, and the rundown reaches out in number.

Potato Day is best celebrated by consolidating the honorable potato into each dish you get ready. For breakfast, you can’t beat hash browns prepared with salt and pepper and suffocated in frankfurter sauce and cheddar. Lunch ought to consistently be joined by a sack of potato chips, particularly on the off chance that you spread them over your sandwich to give it a pleasant pungent crunch. Supper time isn’t finished except if you have a prepared potato, or our undisputed top choice, pureed potatoes with garlic, onion, and cheddar blended in.

At long last, you can do your bit to enlighten individuals regarding the recorded hugeness of the potato and the job it played in taking care of numerous developments, not simply the Irish. The potato is possibly an answer for supportability issues and unimaginably complete food. Kindly do your examination and make a convincing article or blog entry that clarifies why spuds are imperative to our general public. At that point share it on your internet based life.

It might be just a straightforward tuber, yet Potato Day gives it a second to sparkle!

Murder suspect convicted in Stafford in separate case involving potato chips

A man who is facing murder and other charges in Spotsylvania County was convicted of two offenses Monday in Stafford Monday that stemmed from a dispute that started over a turkey sandwich and some potato chips.

McDowney had been taken to the hospital for an undisclosed medical issue when he requested a turkey sandwich and potato chips. He was told he could have the sandwich but not the chips, and he would have to wait until some testing was completed.

McDowney threatened to take one officer's gun and shoot him, and told another, "You don't know me man. I'll [expletive] slap the [expletive] out of you if you come close to me again."

William G. McDowney, 40, of King George County pleaded guilty in Stafford Circuit Court to assault on a law-enforcement officer and destruction of property. He will be sentenced on those charges on Nov. 23.

in medical circles, uppity patients demanding a turkey sandwich is a stereotype.  typically they'll also ask for dilaudid and a taxi voucher.

As part of Krug’s ongoing digital “World of Craft” platform – which presents creative forums for chefs, Krug aficionados, and epicureans alike to learn, discuss, and engage with one another – Chef Angus McIntosh, Executive Chef at The Farm at Brush Creek, will be hosting an Instagram Live cooking demo tomorrow, August 26, at 2:00p.m. EST. (Tune into @KrugChampagne to watch.)

And what will he be preparing in front of eager viewers, to pair with the recently-released Krug Grande Cuvée 168th Edition? Potato salad.

McIntosh: I had a healthy conversation about Krug Grande Cuvee 168th Edition with our beverage director Gretchen Allen. It pairs beautifully with this potato dish, because the Champagne’s brioche aromas counterbalance the spicy mustard.
