Good for Katie Couric for actually asking a follow-up question when given a rare opportunity to examine the vp candidate - probing follow-up questions have been all to rare from the media.

this series of Future Election Headlines as predicted by the Daily Show writers in Entertainment Weekly made me snort

"Biden, In Slip Calls Palin "Tappable"

"Biden apologizes, retracts Palin "Tappable" remark"

Biden apologizes for calling Palin "Not Tappable"

 Biden tapes own mouth shut

Any chance Obama may end up taking Florida? if he were to win there, that would be it for McCain.

For the record, I too am circum-super-sized.

And no, I don't see McCain losing Florida.

if i was obama , i would let him have Florida.  all he really needs is Ohio and the upper midwest and hes got like 290.

I think, after today's financial meltdown and what is likely in store for the next few days, Obama could win in a landslide.  If the Dow continues to fall, I don't think it is out of the question that he takes most of the battleground states.  We'll see.

Of course, if that were to happen, he won't have an economy to run when he takes office...

If Ohio and Florida were to go to McCain, would securing PA, MI, WI, MN, Iowa... plus CO and NM be enough for Obama? Would he still need Virginia?

If OH, FL, NH, VA went to McCain and the rest of the states you listed to Obama, it'd be 269-269.

In many ways, I think this illustrates the choice between the candidates:

In an interview aired Tuesday on "The CBS Evening News," anchor Katie Couric asked Palin what publications she had read to stay informed and to understand the world.

"I've read most of them, again with a great appreciation for the press, for the media," Palin replied. Asked for examples, she said, "Um, all of them, any of them that have been in front of me all these years."

Asked again for an example, Palin told Couric: "I have a vast variety of sources where we get our news, too. Alaska isn't a foreign country, where it's kind of suggested, 'Wow, how could you keep in touch with what the rest of Washington, D.C., may be thinking when you live up there in Alaska?' Believe me, Alaska is like a microcosm of America."
